Will petrol prices rise tomorrow in Australia?
No — quite the opposite: prices are set to fall over the next few days. If you can wait a few days to fill up, it pays.
And we caught the last one as it happened: on 22 September 2026 prices really did rise by 4.4 c/L, spotted that same day.
What should I do?
With a drop on the way, wait if you can: filling up a few days later can save you a few cents a litre without driving a single extra kilometre. And WHERE you fill up still rules: between the cheapest and dearest station in the same area there's often more than 20 cents a litre.
How do we know?
The Refil Forecast doesn't guess: it crosses four signals and only calls a rise when one of them commits to a specific date.
- Tax calendar. The big price jumps almost never come from the market: they're taxes, excise updates or discounts ending, with an officially published start date.
- Verified news. A classifier reads the country's business press every day and keeps only what carries a start date and a clear direction.
- Brent ramp. Crude takes one to two weeks to reach the pump; when Brent climbs steadily, the alert gets ahead of that lag.
- Automatic detector. On our own daily price history, it watches whether the national average has already started moving today.
